Perhaps you have heard about the passive resistance of the Norwegians when their neutral country was invaded and occupied by the Nazis during World War II. German soldiers were everywhere, but in many subtle ways, Norwegians were able to defeat the objectives of the occupying forces.

One symbol of their resistance was the paperclip. A paperclip worn on a lapel or cuff was enough to send a message: I resent what is being done to me. A good account of Norway’s resistance, and the role of the paperclip as a symbol, is here.

In honor of the Norwegian patriots, and the lowly paperclip that was their symbol, I have begun printing earrings with a paperclip motif on my 3D printer. I have also posted the earring design various places online so that others with 3D printers can do likewise.

If you would like a pair of paperclip earrings that commemorate those brave Norwegians, let me know. I have some I would like to give away.
