In a series of meetings in May, residents had a chance to offer their ideas about what should go into KCC’s Strategic Plan. The board and the various committees involved have had a chance to integrate the results of that process with their own ideas, narrowing it all down to several “themes”.

Residents will now have a chance to again provide their input about what strategic elements should be included in the themes. The registration information doesn’t say what those themes will be, but they will be announced in the Forum this Wednesday (1:00 in the auditorium and on Zoom) that involves Lisa, Rick Spackman (KCC board clerk), and Will Hurd (board member heading the strategic planning effort).

Registration for the resident input sessions is open now and will continue until July 27. Register here: https://www.kalresweb.org/home-page/contact/strategic-planning-registration-form/

Locations and times. The locations for the input sessions will be the Kendal Conference room, the Crosslands Conference Room, and Zoom. The sessions will last 90 minutes. The in-person sessions will be held at 10:00 am or 1:00 pm, and the Zoom sessions will be at 3:00 pm. All will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, July 29-31.

Unlike last time (when each session had a single topic), it is my understanding that each session will give you an opportunity for input on all of the themes.

I don’t know how many people will be allowed to register for each session. But given the limited size of the conference rooms, it won’t be a large number. I encourage you to register right away.

Be prepared! To prepare for your session, it may be helpful to go back to the videos of the SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) results coming from the previous sessions. Those videos are:

For Kendal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iyn_ixloDRA

For Crosslands: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-ogXl90koU

If you want a list of the main ideas covered in those videos, here is a blog post summarizing them:

My hope is that a straightforward but powerful strategic plan will emerge from this process, one that honors what has made KCC great but one that also leads toward great things in the future. Ideally, it will have goals that are measurable, with target deadlines attached. Specific individuals will be given responsibility for making sure the goals and deadlines are met. Am I asking too much?
