It wasn’t so long ago that Chester County (where Kendal is located) was strongly Republican, but that has changed in recent years. As of March, 2025, Democrats held a slight registration advantage: 156,601 Democrats vs. 151,856 Republicans.
But that doesn’t tell the whole story.
In looking a bit deeper into the registration data, there is a striking age difference in party registration.
Republicans still hold a substantial registration advantage among the over-50 voters, particularly in the 55-70 age range. But for younger voters, the picture is quite different. The chart below shows that voters under 50 are overwhelmingly Democratic.

Registration in neighboring Delaware County has also shifted from Republican to Democratic over the last couple of decades, and Democrats have become even more dominant there. Current registration favors the Democrats, 199,755 to 145,714 for the Republicans. And, even more than in Chester County, it is the younger voters that primarily account for the difference.

This data suggests that, for these two counties, Republicans may find it tough to keep up with the Democrats in the coming years. They will have to find ways to either recruit the next generation of young voters, or to convert middle-aged voters from Democrat to Republican.

Very encouraging. Thanks for sharing!
